ASSUMPTIONS AND AGREEMENTS

*End of Life Doula Alua Arthur has an interesting perspective about life: “This is not a harm-free zone. Harm will happen, and what is important is how we respond when it does.”
We are all teachers and learners. Each of us brings special gifts and experiences, and we’re eager to learn from one another.
We meet one another wherever we are – with our hearts and our compassion. We all have good intentions.*
We are here to support one another’s success.
We share an interest, passion and/or calling to serve those at end of life – to help support them as they complete their final chapter here on Earth. We’re drawn to extend our support to their loved ones, too.
We’re here to listen – the greatest gift we can give one another is to quiet our minds and deeply listen with our full presence and desire for learning, understanding and connection.
We’re here to reflect – reflect on our own lives and on how we want to show up today and every day. Are we living fully and contemplatively?
Deep listening and reflecting require silence on our part so that we are truly focused on the speaker – and the speaker feels safe and heard. Trust and learn from the silence.
We fully embrace the concept of “don’t know mind” – a mind that’s open and receptive, that’s not limited.**
We strive to remain fully present. We are not here to fix, save or advise.
