Meet the lacuna troupe
I am ecstatic to be a part of the Lacuna Community troupe! I enjoy meditation, acting, singing, spending time with my family and exercising. You can usually find me hanging out with friends and listening to music.
Alaia played the role of Summer in Lacuna Community's February 2021 production of Checking In.
I'm a Multi-disciplinary Renaissance guy, with degrees in Music Composition and Biological Systems Engineering. I look at the world through the lenses of food, music and color. I play many classical instruments, sing, paint, cook, and write. I'm an ex-pat in Uruguay, planning to stay long-term. I'm learning Spanish as fast as I can, though it mixes with the Italian I learned in college. I have 2 amazing kids in Wisconsin, whom I miss terribly, and a cat named Mango who fetches and says "hello" when he wants to go outside (with me here in South America). I'm closer to Antarctica than I am to the tip of Peru, so this group could be an important community to me, as I'm here adventuring solo. I hope to meet other beautiful, creative souls, and re-engage with my love of composing music, with focus on 7+ individual chakra meditations for yoga practice.
lacuna community is not a theatre company. this is a space to grow artistically.
Each member of the Lacuna Troupe was selected because of their talents, expertise, and passion.
Our core values at Lacuna Community are balance, compassion, and clarity, and we invite every Troupe member to share those values with us. Every class, workshop, rehearsal, and performance will be conducted with these core values at the forefront, so we can make our lacuna a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
Want to become a member of our troupe? We will hold open auditions for the 2022 Winter/Spring Troupe in December.
I’m an actor/singer/comedian based in Los Angeles hailing from New York City. My BFA in Musical Theatre from Nazareth College provided me training in musical theatre/dance and contemporary/classical/Shakespearean theatre. NYC brought me the world of comedy, improv and sketch writing from UCB Theatre and Magnet Theatre. Regional theatre credits include Geva Theatre and Rochester Fringe. Favorite roles include Petra (A Little Night Music), Sally Brown (You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown) and Joan (Dames at Sea). I’m thrilled to be in the Lacuna Troupe and have my creativity nurtured so it can bloom.
I grew up in a small town, attended college in another small town, and moved to the big city (San Antonio) to pursue and learn as much as possible about doing theatre. I worked full-time at University of Texas at San Antonio for about 5 years, and currently work at Thrive Youth Center at the Haven for Hope campus. Still addicted to theatre, I am still studying voice and dabbling into the Texas film scene.
I am an Actor, Singer, Writer, Director. I spent almost 30 years pursuing my dreams in Los Angeles and have returned to my hometown to take care of aging parents. I want to continue to explore and grow as an artist and I am looking for all professional opportunities available to me locally.
I am a proud member of the Equity Actors Association (AEA), and the Artistic Director of Bubble Sisters Productions, whose goal is to produce shows that uplift and empower women of all ages, races, and genders.
When I'm not busy producing shows, I am the co-owner and acting President of the largest fiberglass pool business in the nation. I am the proud mother of two amazingly talented adult children, and a recent widow of my Superman and love of my life.
I’d like to thank my amazing family and steadfast friends for their constant love and support as I enter this exciting new chapter of my life.
I am a San Antonio area actor, director, writer and journalist who originally hails from Washington D.C. I have three sons (7, 3, and 2) and enjoy film, theater, reading, swimming, playing piano, flying airplanes when I can, and copious consumption of caffeine (terrible habit!!) I also am very passionate about consent education and mental health awareness, among other social justice issues.
Hi, I am Emilie Miller, I am a singing and musical theatre lover, originally from Utah, but loving living in Texas. I love to be in shows, sing, bake, laugh, and spend time with my family. I am excited to share my love of performing arts and grow my talent through this opportunity.
I am a globe-trotting lover of the: arts, good food, good drink, & people of all walks of life. As a child, I wanted to be an actress but did not believe it could be a practical reality. I have been fortunate enough to realize this dream as an adult through community theatre & most recently, Lacuna Community.
If anyone reading this has a "reoccurring" dream, please be encouraged to go after it. Anything is possible for anyone at any time - you just have to give it a go!
Joanna played the role of Catherine in our 2021 production of Checking In.
I am so grateful to be a part of the Lacuna Community. As a healthcare provider, performer, Reiki practitioner and life coach, Lacuna represents areas of wellness that are precious to me in my life. I am happy and excited to meet and work with all of you!

After many years on the road, I decided to retire my suitcase and live closer to family in beautiful Colorado.

MARY ANN KOHAUT
I am a lifelong student and a survivor. I believe in spreading love & kindness. I am working my way through a fine arts program right now. Finding balance in life is what keeps me going. Living mindfully, Yoga, and Meditation is what grounds me. Writing is how I process life. Making art is how I express myself. I lost one of my children to addiction last year and the grief is too painful for words, but I am learning that it’s ok to be sad and that grief is love. I look for happiness in moments and I find them. My hope for my future is that I can find a way to share my story and help others heal through art therapy.
I am a NYC-based actor and coach. This is my second year with Lacuna Community and I could not be more delighted to part of such a caring collective of artists. I have a passion for new works, reading every play I come across, and all the dogs in the world.
Mary played Liz in our production of Checking In.
I am thrilled to serve as Programming Director of Lacuna Community. After graduating from college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I immediately moved to NYC, where I lived as a professional actress for 12 years. I left NYC to become a certified yoga instructor, and am now working on my yoga therapy certification. I have performed in over 30 countries and all 50 states.
Natalie played the role of Penny in our production of Checking In.
I am Nicholas Zars. I am an undergraduate music education major at The University of Texas at San Antonio. My principal instrument is saxophone, however, I have made an effort to learn all the commonly used woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. With these instruments, I put together multitrack videos of me playing all the parts to different pieces of music. Learning every instrument helps give me the knowledge and skills to be the best music educator that I can be.
I have been active in the San Antonio theater community for many years. Favorite performing credits include: Dearly Departed (Delightful), North Shore Fish (Ruthie), When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder? (Cheryl), Crazy for You (Patsy) and Annie (Lily St. Regis). Production Assistant credits include: A Piece of My Heart, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Hamlet, and A Streetcar Named Desire. I hold a master’s degree in Teaching with a specialty in Early Childhood Education and a Certification in Special Education. I spend my days as an Educational Specialist and am passionate about lifelong learning, arts integration, and creating equitable access to education for all students.
I am a professional actress/singer, writer, podcast host, and business owner. My podcast is called There's a Word For That! where we explore a different word every week. I also run and own a tutoring agency, Skyscraper Tutoring, LLC. We do academic tutoring for all ages and levels. My favorite food is Gnocchi. My favorite fruit are blueberries. My black and white cats, Hamlet and Cressida, are gorgeous and crazy. I am dying to visit Croatia. I am originally from Southern CT, but I live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in NYC. I love reading, yoga, boxing, barre, caffeine, speaking Spanish, and watching Schitt's Creek.
