CASE STUDY EXPECTATIONS
Each student is asked to present a case study/reflection in order to receive their certification. We highly recommend that you carve out a minimum of ten hours to either volunteer at a community hospice center, assisted living facility, nursing home, memory care facility, or a home like ABODE so that you can practice being around people who are at the end of life.
Case Study Guidelines:
1) Choose a client. You can choose from the following categories:
• Those with terminal illness/ facing end of life or on hospice
• Caregivers and family members who support those who are at end of life
• Hospice workers/ staff
2) Gather information from your client and input it into an intake form (Module 2). The intake form must capture the goals/needs of the client and their reason for seeking yoga
3) Meet with client to review intake and conduct client assessment using the client assessment form (Module 2) as your guide.
4) Provide clients with the appropriate yoga treatment plan based upon the findings from the intake and assessment.
6) Write up a case study that summarizes the following (see Case Study Example):
-
The client’s current state & goals for yoga
-
Key findings from the client assessment
-
The yoga treatment plan
-
Client follow up, feedback and reaction to the yoga treatment plan
-
Your own self-reflection of how they interacted with the process.
-
Your self-care practices that you utilized to keep your cup full while in this training
After all of the modules are complete, you will be asked to speak about some key findings from your client case study.

An overview of your time spent with your client
-
Findings from an intake and assessment
-
Reflections on ABODE’s Mission, Vision, and Values

Reflections on a minimum of two self-care or contemplative practices that you used to keep your cup full
